Mt Fuji was covered in clouds all day except for a few minutes in the early evening. We were walking back to the ship when we felt foiled from failure to get a glimpse of this majestic mountain when Macato Aioki, tapped us on the shoulder, pointed behind us and asked in his best English, "Did you see Mt Fuji?" We were so happy, we asked his name and gave him a Bengals cap. He took this photograph for us- Mt Fuji is visible in the background of the upper left of this frame.
The retired admiral called this my Jimmy Buffett hair (I took it as a compliment).
Egg rice omelet with beef gravy at a local restaurant began our day. Yes, a bit unusual but safe. I'm back on my feet again eager to take photos and blog.
Melon cream soda was Ruth Ann's choice of beverage for breakfast.
A circus tent was the sight from the balcony of the Freely Family Cafe so we checked it out.

Pop Circus is a one ring top notch circus touring Japan. Funny thing is, ---we met a Mexican clown at the Japanese circus. I love clowns and their slapstick humor makes me laugh out loud. It was old fashioned family entertainment. Good clean fun! The show included juggling, illusions, ribbon acrobatics and more. A circus band of five fine musicians provided live music. The drummer was one of the best percussionists I have seen. He created drama with his drums and his splashes, crashes and rolls were expertly timed while also providing cues for the circus performers. My favorite, next to the clowns, was the flying trapeze. It not only made me feel a bit like a child again, it evoked memories of our children and granddaughters when a young female performer just swung back and forth in front of us as the other trapeze artists were making last minute adjustments. Our daughter, Marji and granddaughters, Grace and Caroline, all loved it when I pushed them on a swing-and so did I love it. G & C liked it when I made up song verses as we played. My best has not been forgotten;
To push a girl on a swing
Is the finest the finest of things
I wish I could always be there
To push her way up in the air
So glad to hear that you are feeling human again, Jimmy!
ReplyDeleteAs the son of a son of a sailor
I went out on the sea for adventure
Expanding the view of the captain and crew
Like a man just released from indenture
As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man
I have chalked up many a mile
Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks
And I learned much from both of their styles
Son of a son, son of a son
Son of a son of a sailor
Son of a gun, load the last ton
One step ahead of the jailer
Now away in the near future
Southeast of disorder
You can shake the hand of the mango man
As he greats you at the border
And the lady she hails from Trinidad
Island of the spices
Salt for your meat, and cinnamon sweet
And the rum is for all your good vices
Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind
That our forefathers harnessed before us
Hear the bells ring as the tight rigging sings
It's a son of a gun of a chorus
Where it all ends I can't fathom my friends
If I knew I might toss out my anchor
So I cruise along always searchin' for songs
Not a lawyer a thief or a banker
But a son of a son, son of a son
Son of a son of a sailor
Son of a gun, load the last ton
One step ahead of the jailer
I'm just a son of a son, son of a son
Son of a son of a sailor
The sea's in my veins, my tradition remains
I'm just glad I don't live in a trailer.
Great addition to my blog song lyrics!
