Bye, bye, Shanghai

The Chinese dragon is a spiritual and cultural symbol that represents prosperity and good luck.  This dragon was inviting shoppers into a local store on the pedestrian boulevard.

New World Dawan Department Store on Nanjing Road which is a pedestrian only road with many small shops and restaurants.  This is the most beautiful department store we have ever seen.  Shown in the middle of this photograph is a spiral escalator that climbs six floors.  I bought a bottle of Chinese wine to bring home.

Soldiers and police are seemingly everywhere as this has been a common sight during our stay.  The streets are safe and clean with mounted cameras watching the public.  I wish our streets in the U.S could be as safe as they are here in Shanghai.

Our final lighted image last night as we said bye, bye to Shanghai.

Shades of Blue released Oh How Happy in 1966;

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me

I have kissed your lips a thousand times
And more times than I can count
I have called you mine
You have stood by me in my darkest hour

In our years together
We have had stormy weather
But our love has been so strong
That somehow we've carried on

Oh, how happy
You have made me
Oh, how happy
You have made me
