Leaving Singapore
Singapore Airport might be the most efficient and beautiful airport in the world, Our flight on Singapore Airlines boarded back to front- imagine that. The airplane was extremely clean and comfortable. The seats in economy class were considerably more roomy than what we've been forced to accept in the U.S,
Three hours later after a connecting flight in Bangkok, we arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We are staying at the Anantara Resort. Anantara has several resorts in Thailand where many of the scenes from White Lotus are filmed.
Kim is the name of the string instrument played by this young man. His music was mesmerizing and invited the listener to pause and reflect.
Pouring water on Buddha brings good luck so I accepted the invitation to try my luck wearing a necklace of jasmine. There is a group of six of us from the ship traveling overland in Thailand. Margie and Bob, from Hawaii, also traveled with us overland in New Zealand. Dick and Roz are the other couple. I never considered that I would travel and dine with a three star admiral, retired U.S Navy. He was also a fighter pilot on an aircraft carrier. The man is erect, confidant and socially graceful along with humble and kind. His wife reminds me of the dowager, Lady Grantham in Downton Abbey. Roz is British, uses a cane and if she wore a hat, I swear she could recite the best of Maggie Smith's lines.
Beautiful pictures and I love the quote and reflections on Buddhism in Thailand.
