Komodo National Park
Komodo Dragon in its natural habitat and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This reptile can reach up to ten feet in length and weigh three hundred pounds. There are no roads on Komodo Island and tours must be guided as the Komodo Dragon is an ominous creature with menacing eyes known to attack humans with its sharp, saw-like teeth. Living on deer and wild pigs that inhabit the island, it is surprisingly agile when covering short distances and is also a good swimmer. Though the Komodo dragon dates back at least forty million years in one form or another, this once mythical creature was not discovered on this remote island until 1912.
Duke Ellington and his Orchestra popularized the song, Three Little Words in 1930 with the vocals provided by the Rhythm Boys, which included Bing Crosby;
Three little wordsOh, what I'd give for that wonderful phrase
To hear those three little words
That's all I'd live for the rest of my days
And what I feel in my heart they tell sincerely
No other words can tell it half so clearly
Three little words, eight little letters
Which simply mean "I love you"
Where you able to walk about w/ the dragons?? Did you see many?? Of different sizes/ages??
ReplyDeleteWe were close to the dragons but could not walk with them or get closer than the guide would allow because they will attack humans. We saw several- the juveniles are smaller and can climb trees. There are 3500 dragons in the park along with venomous vipers and cobras which we did not see.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Almost like the last remaining dinosaurs... So cool to see them in the wild. The one in the picture looks like it eats well... 😳
