Cairns, Australia

Hover Craft was the mode of transportation up through Australia's Wet TropicsWorld Heritage Area which is one of the world's most botanically fascinating areas that has remained relatively unchanged for 130 million years.  This is actually a gondola on a cableway with a bit of I-Phone magic to remove the cables from the photograph.  A sort of one-day-late April Fool's prank.  We traversed above the treetops of this massive rain forest.  Australia is very environmentally conscious and the government works closely with the first tribe nations of this land.  The cableway was constructed in a way to cause minimal impact to the forest and to restore any damage to the flora and fauna during construction.

Barron Falls at the end of the rainy season in Queensland with a rainbow.

                                                          Down river with another rainbow.

We stopped in a rainforest village called Kuranda.
Kuranda was founded as a hippie commune in the 1970s and maintains the hippie vibe.

One-third of the people living in Australia were not born in Australia.  Their main export is coal followed by sugar cane.  Tourism is also very important to the economy of Australia.

Tomorrow morning we leave for an overland adventure to Uluru.  We have high expectations for this experience.
